The Shine Project Giveaway

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” ~Gandhi

Ashley started The Shine Project in January 2011 as a way to inspire change. It seems like such an easy thing really, to step outside your comfort zone, to spread a little happiness to those around you, to simply make positive changes.

According to The Shine Project’s blog, “In the past year, thousands of shiny people have joined me in making the
world a better place. From making blankets for 200 homeless people in
Dallas, to adopting a beach in San Diego, to rescuing pound animals,
hundreds of service hours have been done in The Shine Project’s name.
We’re touring the country this year to spread more SHINE and change more lives.”
Ashley has also started a Pay It Forward program as a way to do something nice for someone else and to track how far that niceness is paid forward. Not only are you doing something good but how fun is it to be able to track how that niceness is spread?
I lost a good friend in August of 2010 and he was a big believer in paying it forward. It does good for EVERYONE and I find it so inspiring how much The Shine Project does for others. Think about it: if you do something good for someone else it not only makes them happier, it makes you happier too. And that happiness is only going to be multiplied as it goes from person to person. Such a small concept can be spread so wide. And doesn’t the world always need more happiness?
There are so many ways to get involved with The Shine Project and I urge each of you to take a few moments to check out the blog and think about a small way that you can make changes that can benefit not only yourself but others as well.
In addition to all this wonderfulness, today I am hosting a giveaway with The Shine Project! One of you lucky readers will win a necklace from The Shine Project’s shop, winner’s choice! This one is my personal favorite:

Ashley is so inspiring! She inspired me to give Starbucks gift cards to random strangers – definitely out of my comfort zone but it felt so good to pay it forward!

I love the shine project! I am always constantly looking out for ways to make peoples day or just help them out with something. Whether sending them a note/message and wishing them a good day, fixing them a meal they love or just offering to help with things they need done. It may not be a lot but I think the little things count.

LOVE THIS PROJECT! It's such an easy thing to do and paying it forward can be so rewarding. Like Polly, I find it easy to do at coffee places — but sometimes, I wish I could be a fly so I could buzz around and see their reaction to it. :)
