But don’t fret! Today I am pleased to announce my newest sponsor and a fabulous giveaway!
Where did you come up with the name for your Etsy shop? Before I opened my shop, I was going to school for something completely unrelated to jewelry-making: addictions counselling. I worked in a lot of random jobs, from homeless shelters to jail kitchens & as much as I enjoyed it, there always felt like something was missing. Corrections & Addictions are very conservative environments, so my creativity was always stifled. I wasn’t even allowed to wear jewelry to work! When I decided to open my jewelry shop, everything just clicked. It was as if I was finally finding my own brilliance. Alternatively, I like to think of my jewelry pieces as “finding the brilliance” within the materials I’m using, so both ways it fits. Suddenly it hit me: Brilliance Found! And as soon as I said it aloud, I knew that was it.
What or who are your inspirations? I love creating nature-inspired pieces, because there’s so much beauty in the natural world already. I love being able to capture earth’s elegance in my designs. I also spend a lot of time tweaking my designs to make sure they flow with the wearer — I like my jewelry to be interactive & fit as if it “was meant to be there”.
What are 3 of your favorite items from your shop? It feels like I’m always finding new favorites, but my staples are my Floating Butterflies Ring, my Flying Wings Ring & my Arrow Ring.. they are probably my favorite pieces to wear, because they look so neat on the hand. Rings are such a quick, easy way to add some style to any outfit — I never leave the house without one!
Where do you see yourself and your shop at this time next year? In another year, I’d like to expand my business to sell in more shops across the world. It can be hard to sell jewelry online, because often people want to try on the pieces & you never know how something fits until it arrives. So I love the idea of allowing my customers the ability to run down to their favorite local boutique & pick up some Brilliance!
What is one piece of advice you would give to aspiring Etsy shop owners? If you want your shop to be big, you need to work your shop as if it’s already big. If things are slow, use that time to improve your shop… because once you get busy, you’ll have a lot less time to do so!
